East Indian Current

A seasonal ocean current in the eastern Indian Ocean that flows southward along the western coast of Australia during the austral summer and autumn. It transports warm, low-salinity water from the Indonesian Throughflow into the subtropical gyre. This current is a component of the larger Indonesian Throughflow system, which connects the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
