East Indian winter jet

A strong, upper-tropospheric westerly wind maximum that develops over northern India and the Himalayas during the winter months. It is a prominent feature of the Asian winter monsoon circulation, driven by the large-scale temperature gradients between the Tibetan Plateau and the Indian Ocean. This jet stream influences weather patterns across South Asia.
