Karif

A strong, hot, and dry northeasterly wind that blows along the coast of Somalia, particularly near Berbera. This wind is a feature of the summer monsoon season, from June to August, when the regional pressure gradient is strongest. The karif can reach gale force, raising large amounts of dust and sand and creating difficult conditions for shipping in the Gulf of Aden.
