Monsoon trough

A persistent, elongated area of low atmospheric pressure that extends across tropical and subtropical regions during the monsoon season. It marks the convergence zone between the moist monsoon flow and drier air masses. This trough is a primary generator of monsoon rainfall and associated weather systems.
