Sunscald

Damage to plants, particularly trees, caused by excessive exposure to sunlight, especially after a period of shade or during extreme temperature fluctuations. This damage often manifests as cracking or discoloration of bark on the south or southwest side of a tree trunk. It is a common issue in temperate climates during late winter or early spring.
