Teweles-Wobus index
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010810
A numerical indicator used to forecast the likelihood of severe thunderstorms, particularly those producing large hail. The index combines measures of atmospheric stability and moisture content, calculated from vertical temperature and dew point profiles obtained from a radiosonde sounding. It is computed as the sum of the cross-total index and the vertical-total index, with values exceeding 50 indicating a high potential for severe weather.
