Timber line

The altitudinal or latitudinal boundary beyond which trees cannot grow due to harsh environmental conditions. Above the timber line, temperatures are too low, growing seasons are too short, or snow cover is too persistent to support tree growth. This ecological limit is influenced by factors such as temperature, precipitation, and wind.
