Tank dike

A containment wall or berm constructed around a storage tank or group of tanks to prevent the escape of liquids in the event of a tank failure or spill. This secondary containment structure is designed to hold the entire volume of the largest tank within the diked area, plus a safety margin. Regulatory standards, such as those from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), dictate the minimum capacity and construction requirements for dikes.
