Unitized production

The combined operation and allocation of production from a reservoir that extends across multiple lease boundaries. Under a unitization agreement, the entire field is developed and managed as a single entity to maximize recovery, with revenues distributed to interest owners based on a pre-agreed formula. This approach is common for implementing enhanced oil recovery projects like waterflooding or gas injection.
