Air Taxi

1. An aircraft operator who conducts operations for hire or compensation in accordance with 14 CFR 135 (for safety purposes) or FAR Part 135 (for economic regulations/reporting purposes) in an aircraft designed to have a maximum seating capacity of 60 seats or less or a maximum payload capacity of 18,000.pounds or less carrying passengers or cargo for hire or compensation.
2. A classification of air carriers established by 14 CFR 298 which operate small aircraft, and do not hold a certificate of public convenience and necessity.
