Zipped file

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000453

A file archive format that supports lossless data compression, allowing one or more files or directories to be packaged into a single file. In 3D printing, zipped files are used to bundle a 3D model file with its associated textures, materials, and color information, making it easier to share and transfer complete project data. The 3MF file format, for example, uses the ZIP container structure to package its contents, including the 3D model, a thumbnail, and material definitions.
