Z-height

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000423

The vertical distance from the build plate to the highest point of a 3D model, corresponding to the Z-axis of the printer. This dimension, along with the selected layer height, determines the total number of layers required to complete a part and is a primary factor in calculating the total print time. The first layer's Z-height is a specific calibration setting that adjusts the nozzle's initial distance from the bed to achieve proper adhesion.
