Z-axis
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000420
The vertical direction of movement within an additive manufacturing system, perpendicular to both the X and Y axes. This axis controls the layer-by-layer deposition process, either by moving the print head up or the build platform down. Precise control of Z-axis movement determines the layer thickness and overall height of the printed object.
