Number of layers

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000252

The total count of individual slices or cross-sections that constitute a complete 3D printed object. This value is determined by the object's height and the chosen layer thickness, with each layer representing a single pass of material deposition or solidification. A higher number of layers generally results in a smoother surface finish but increases print time.
