Shell thickness
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000347
The measurement of the solid outer wall of a 3D printed object, determined by the number of perimeter layers and the extrusion width of the print nozzle. This parameter directly influences the part's surface quality, structural integrity, and resistance to external forces. A common shell thickness for many FDM parts is between 0.8 mm and 1.2 mm.
