Extrusion nozzle

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000128

A precisely machined component at the end of a 3D printer's hot end through which molten material is forced to form a bead or trace. It shapes the extruded plastic into a specific diameter, which dictates the layer width and resolution of the printed object. Nozzles are commonly made from brass, stainless steel, or hardened steel, with orifice diameters ranging from 0.2 mm to 1.0 mm.
