Bowden extruder
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000041
A type of filament extrusion system in fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printers where the extruder motor is mounted remotely on the printer frame, pushing filament through a long PTFE tube to the hot end. This design reduces the moving mass of the print head, which can lead to faster print speeds and less ringing artifacts. The PTFE tube typically has an inner diameter of 2 mm for 1.75 mm filament.
