Extrusion
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000126
The process of forcing a material through a die or nozzle to create a continuous profile or layer. In fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printing, extrusion involves heating a thermoplastic filament and pushing it through a small nozzle to deposit molten material layer by layer. This forms the basis for building three-dimensional objects from digital models.
