Spool
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000362
A cylindrical reel or bobbin onto which filament for fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printers is wound. The filament is fed from the spool into the printer's extruder, which then melts and deposits the material layer by layer. Spools typically hold filament in standard weights such as 0.5 kg, 1 kg, or 2 kg, with common diameters of 1.75 mm or 2.85 mm.
