Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000017
An Access Control List, a list of permissions attached to an object, such as a file, directory, or network resource, that specifies which users or system processes are granted access to that object and what operations are allowed. Each entry in an ACL, known as an Access Control Entry (ACE), defines a specific permission for a particular trustee. ACLs are a common method for implementing discretionary access control in operating systems and network devices.
