A high-capacity internet connection that carries large amounts of data at once, using technologies such as DSL, cable, fiber optic, or satellite, with faster download and upload speeds than dial-up. In the United States the FCC set its fixed broadband benchmark at 25 megabits per second down and 3 up in 2015, and raised it to 100 megabits per second down and 20 up in 2024.
