Cable modem

A network device that provides bidirectional data communication over a coaxial cable television infrastructure. It converts digital signals from a computer into radio frequency signals for transmission over the cable network, and vice versa. Modern cable modems typically conform to the DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) standard.
