Clean install
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000189
The process of installing an operating system or application on a computer in a way that removes any previous version and its associated files. This involves formatting the storage drive or partition where the software will reside, which deletes all existing data, user settings, and applications from that location. A clean install contrasts with an in-place upgrade, which preserves user data and settings from the previous version.
