DNS record

A mapping file that provides instructions to a DNS server about a domain. These records contain information about which IP address is associated with a domain name, where to find email servers, and other domain-related data. Common types include A records for IPv4 addresses, AAAA records for IPv6 addresses, and MX records for mail exchange.
