Dot matrix
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000333
A printing technology that creates images and text by striking an ink-soaked ribbon with a print head containing a matrix of small pins. Each pin creates a single dot on the paper, and combinations of dots form characters and graphics. Dot matrix printers are known for their durability and ability to print multi-part forms, though they are slower and noisier than modern alternatives.
