Equalizer
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000394
A software tool or hardware device that adjusts the volume of specific frequency bands within an audio signal. By boosting or cutting certain frequencies, an equalizer alters the tonal quality of the sound to correct for room acoustics or for creative effect. Graphic equalizers use a bank of sliders to control fixed frequency bands, while parametric equalizers offer more precise control over frequency, bandwidth, and gain.
