Escape key

A key on a computer keyboard, typically labeled 'Esc', used to generate the ASCII escape character. Its primary function is to terminate, cancel, or abort an operation or process, or to close a menu or dialog box. In many applications, pressing the Escape key will return the user to a previous state or exit a full-screen mode.
