Shift key

A modifier key on a keyboard that, when pressed in conjunction with another key, changes the function of that key. It is primarily used to type uppercase letters and the alternate symbols printed on the upper part of certain keys. Keyboards typically have two Shift keys, one on each side of the alphanumeric section.
