Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001485
An abstract computing machine that provides a runtime environment for executing programs compiled to Java bytecode. The Java Virtual Machine translates bytecode into native machine code for the specific underlying operating system and hardware, enabling platform independence. While designed for Java, the JVM also supports other programming languages like Kotlin, Scala, and Groovy that can compile to the same bytecode format.
