A wireless broadband communication standard for mobile devices and data terminals, based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies. It provides high-speed data transfer and improved spectral efficiency compared to earlier cellular standards. LTE is often marketed as 4G LTE, though it technically meets the IMT-Advanced requirements for 4G only in its later releases.
