Metafile

Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000743

A file format that stores an image by describing it as a series of drawing commands rather than as a bitmap of individual pixels. This allows the image to be scaled without loss of quality and often results in smaller file sizes for vector graphics. Windows Metafile (WMF) and Enhanced Metafile (EMF) are common examples used in Microsoft Windows environments.
