Metaheuristic
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001500
A high-level procedural framework that guides a search process to find sufficiently good solutions to complex computational problems, especially when exact methods are too slow or impractical. These algorithms do not guarantee an optimal solution but aim to provide a near-optimal one within a reasonable amount of time. Examples include genetic algorithms, simulated annealing, and particle swarm intelligence, which are often applied to NP-hard problems.
