NIC

A hardware component, also known as a Network Interface Card, that connects a computing device to a network. It functions as an interface at the physical and data link layers of the OSI model, translating data between the computer's internal bus and the network medium. Every NIC is manufactured with a unique 48-bit Media Access Control (MAC) address, which is used to identify the device on a local network.
