OSI model

A conceptual framework that standardizes the functions of a telecommunication or computing system into seven distinct layers. Each layer performs specific services for the layer above it and receives services from the layer below. The seven layers are Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application.
