Brouter

A network device that combines the functionalities of both a bridge and a router. It can forward data packets between different network segments based on network layer (Layer 3) protocols, like a router, and also filter traffic based on MAC addresses at the data link layer (Layer 2), like a bridge. Brouters are less common in modern networks.
