PPP

The Point-to-Point Protocol, a data link layer communication protocol used to establish a direct connection between two nodes. It handles connection authentication, transmission encryption, and data compression for the link. PPP is used over many types of physical networks, including serial cable, phone lines, and fiber optic links, and forms the basis for other protocols like PPPoE.
