PCI Express
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000897
A high-speed serial computer expansion bus standard designed to replace the older PCI and PCI-X buses. It uses point-to-point serial links called lanes, with data transmitted in packets. Each lane provides a dedicated connection, and multiple lanes can be combined (e.g., x1, x4, x8, x16) to increase bandwidth, with a single x16 slot offering significantly higher throughput than its predecessors.
