A local bus standard for IBM PC compatible computers, introduced in the early 1990s to provide faster access to peripherals like video cards and disk controllers. It operated at the CPU's clock speed, offering a 32-bit data path and higher bandwidth than the ISA bus. VLB was largely replaced by the PCI bus due to its technical limitations and lack of standardization.
