PPPoE

A network protocol, Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, for encapsulating PPP frames inside Ethernet frames. It combines the authentication and session management features of PPP with the multi-user access capabilities of Ethernet. This protocol is specified in RFC 2516 and is widely used by internet service providers to manage individual subscriber connections over a shared broadband network.
