iSCSI

A storage networking standard, short for Internet Small Computer System Interface, that allows block-level storage data to be transported over standard TCP/IP networks. It works by encapsulating SCSI commands into IP packets, enabling clients (initiators) to send commands to storage devices (targets) as if they were locally attached. The protocol is defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in RFC 3720.
