A foundational suite of communication protocols that governs how data is exchanged over the internet and other computer networks. It defines how data should be formatted, addressed, transmitted, routed, and received. The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) handles reliable, ordered delivery of a stream of bytes, while the Internet Protocol (IP) handles addressing and routing of packets.
