Collision
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000209
An event in computer networking where two or more devices attempt to transmit data on the same shared network medium simultaneously, resulting in corrupted data. In Ethernet networks using CSMA/CD, devices detect collisions and then retransmit their data after a random delay. Collisions are less common in modern switched networks compared to older hub-based networks.
