Jitter

The variation in packet transit delay over a network, resulting in inconsistent arrival times for data packets. This phenomenon is particularly disruptive for real-time applications such as VoIP and video streaming, where a steady flow of data is required for quality. Jitter is measured in milliseconds, and values below 30 ms are considered acceptable for most voice and video services.
