Screen tearing

Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001071

A visual artifact in video displays where the image appears horizontally split or disjointed. This occurs when the display's refresh cycle is not synchronized with the rate at which the graphics processor delivers new frames of image data. As a result, the monitor begins drawing a new frame before it has finished displaying the previous one, showing parts of two or more different frames simultaneously.
