Screen saver

A computer program designed to prevent phosphor burn-in on older CRT monitors by displaying a moving image or blanking the screen after a period of inactivity. While modern displays are not susceptible to burn-in, screen savers are still used for entertainment, security, or to hide desktop contents. Many operating systems include built-in screen saver options.
