VDU

An output device that presents data, such as text and graphics, on a screen for user interaction. A Visual Display Unit (VDU) consists of a display surface and the electronic circuitry to generate the image from signals sent by the computer. Early VDUs were based on cathode-ray tube technology, but modern displays use flat-panel technologies like liquid-crystal display (LCD) and organic light-emitting diode (OLED).
