MTU
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000781
Maximum Transmission Unit, the largest size of a data packet or frame that can be transmitted over a network without fragmentation. Exceeding the MTU causes the packet to be broken into smaller pieces, which can introduce overhead and reduce efficiency. The standard Ethernet MTU is 1500 bytes, while some network technologies like Jumbo Frames support larger sizes.
