A fiber-optic telecommunications technology that delivers broadband network access to end-users. It uses a single optical fiber to serve multiple endpoints without requiring electrically powered splitting or routing equipment between the optical line terminal and the end-user. PON systems are commonly deployed for Fiber to the Home (FTTH) services.
