Power supply

An electrical device that converts alternating current (AC) from a wall outlet into direct current (DC) at the voltage levels required by a computer's internal components. It distributes power to the motherboard, hard drives, optical drives, and other peripherals. Desktop computer power supplies are rated in watts, commonly ranging from 300W to over 1000W.
