Thyristor

Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001232

A solid-state semiconductor device with four layers of alternating N- and P-type material, used as a switch in power control applications. It can conduct current only when triggered by a gate signal and remains conducting until the current falls below a certain level. Thyristors are found in power supplies and motor control circuits.
